As the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Manager you are responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment within the organization. This role involves developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry and Corporate standards. You will play a crucial role in promoting a culture of quality, health & safety, environmental sustainability and continuous improvement. Additionally, this role involves the leadership and guidance of the QHSE team in order to implement and maintain high QHSE standards and further develop their skills and competences. In this role, you will report directly to the Country Director in Beringen with a dotted line responsibility to Corporate Quality for food safety topics.

Principle accountabilities

• Ensure that all Quality, Health, Safety and Environment objectives, goals and targets in the factory (including regional and global commitments) are met;
• Develop and track your department’s budget and eliminate losses;
• Conduct regular plan-do-act-check assessments to plan how targets will be met, executing the plan and periodically checking and taking action to stay on track;
• Ensure that there is strict adherence with all appropriate laws, regulations, food safety quality standards and consumer requirements of all manufactured products;
• Manage issues and crisis situations internally and externally in ways that support the company’s image, policies and business;
• Develop and enforce health and safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment;
• Conduct risk assessments, implement corrective actions, and promote safety awareness;
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement preventive measures;
• Work closely with the R&D department;
• Develop and implement environmental policies to ensure compliance with regulations and Corporate ‘Project Earth’ plan;
• Lead the HACCP-team, food defense team, food fraud team and authenticity team and optimize CCP’s and QCP’s in production;
• Ensure quality controls, cleaning plans and calibrations are performed as agreed, and control the non-conformities via internal procedure and hygiene audits;
• Prepare, lead successful IFS certification, FAVV audits and customer audits;
• Maintain ingredient, packaging and recipe specifications;
• Translate regulations and customer demands in the quality system;
• Maintain an incoming control plan of the raw and packaging materials including auditing of suppliers;
• Answer customer complaints and analyze the complaints to continuously improve quality and reduce complaints;
• Lead, mentor, develop and motivate direct reports;
• Train and motivate shopfloor workers in the quality culture.
  
  

Job specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field(s);
• 10+ years experience in a quality management role in a food related environment required;
• Strong interest in HSE topics, a first experience is nice to have;
• Experience in supervisory/people management;
• Experience with Quality Management Systems (ACS, IFS, BRCGS, FSSC22000, …)
• Knowledge of Quality system Software (Quasydoc) is preferred.
• Fluent in Dutch and English;
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
• Strong communication skills and an excellent team player;
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams;
